My students attend a middle school in Colorado. Over the last several years, we have all felt the impact of educational budget cuts from our state level. As a result, new materials are becoming more difficult to come by, and improving classroom technology is nearly impossible. Several of the students have cell phones, as is the norm, but many do not have a smart phone and therefore cannot conduct research in class or engage in quick classroom polls, blogs, or other activities that may require internet access. In a 21st century world where these kids are used to using technology on a regular basis, I want them to be able to experience technology in their US History classroom. They are inspired to engage in class once they begin using devices and technology they are familiar with, and with that engagement comes an increased learning!
