The students I serve are a population made up of mostly minority students comprised of 70% Black Non-Hispanic (a vast majority of these are of Haitian-Creole descent), 22% Hispanic, 2% White Non-Hispanic, and 3% Asian/Indian/Multiracial. The school as a whole is classified as a Title I school, which is a title given to schools that service students receiving free or reduced lunch. Eighty-six percent of our students are classified as economically disadvantaged. Most of the students don't have Internet access or even computers at home. They aren't able to access certain sites or are not privy to some of the wonderful learning tools available through technology.
