My 4th and 5th grade students this year are making the transition from elementary school to the middle school world. They are facing more rigorous academic challenges and they are continuing to develop their personal character. At home, my students struggle with extreme poverty, drugs, and gang violence. School is a safe haven from the issues that they deal with day in and day out at such a young age. Our charter school is committed to the low-income community that we serve and together with parents and families we work to develop the character of our students.
