My students are seventh graders in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Washington, DC. Most of them show up to school each day without pencil or paper. Many of them don't own a backpack and have empty lockers. They misplace assignments and often lose track of readings. Each and every 7th grader can and will achieve but lacking critical supplies naturally limits their success. Providing my students with folders and notebooks will allow them to keep their classwork organized, which will save hours of time that was once spent looking for misplaced assignments.
