My students attend Patterson High School, which is a public school in East Baltimore and is ranked as High Poverty. Many of my students have very tough home lives and some are refugees from various countries around the world. Some pursue education as a way out, while others come to school because it is safer than being at home. My students are visual learners, which is why lecturing to them and scribbling on a chalkboard does not help them learn effectively. They need more stimulation, which could be provided by audio, video and images, to be engaged in class.
