Students from a small impoverished town in Mississippi have few things to look forward to when they come to school. For many, frustration and failure most adequately describe their educational experiences. While the district tries hard to provide for student learning, because of cut backs there is still a need for supplies that will allow student learning to explore and develop beyond the scope of textbooks and worksheets. I can plan creative and fun activities without worrying if all of my student will have the necessary materials. The last thing I would ever want to do is embarrass a child because they were unable to obtain the need materials. I just won't do that. I want them to know what success feels like. I want them to love to learn and not be self conscious about not being having things they need for class projects.
