As first graders, my students are eager and excited to learn. They come to school each day with a curiosity for knowledge, individualized to each and every student. They enjoy learning through manipulatives, creating arts and crafts projects, and using their imaginations. They each have amazing personalities that both surprise and blow me away each day. They have endless potential, and they are so full of promise. My students attend a public K-5 elementary school in an urban school district of Maryland. Over the last year, they have encountered countless struggles outside of school - the proportion of students receiving free/reduced price lunch is 99% - but they have persevered and they recognize that their education is their best hope for improving their future circumstances. They come to class each day focused and ready to be the best students they can be.
