One of the greatest injustices in the United States today is educational inequity. It is unfair to the lower-socioeconomic communities of America that their children will, on average, read two grade levels below their more affluent peers. Students in areas such as these are uncomfortable reading and are, thus, not interested in it. Our schools aren't doing them any favors, the selected readings from many of the mandated reading programs are not engaging for anyone involved, teacher or students.
