When our community was hit by the EF5 tornado this spring, it affected everyone. I worried about my students. They already deal with too much trauma in their lives. Most of my students live in poverty. They have to deal with things in their lives that many adults have not had to experience. They are children who have often seen the hard side of life and have very little in the way of material possessions. Beyond that, though, is the harsher fact that often they're lacking someone in their lives who consistently gives them unconditional love, discipline, and guidance. I try to be that person.

About my class
