The students that I will teach are seniors in high school and come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. They live in a low income community and this school does not have a reputation of having the most demanding courses. This is the first advanced science class that they will have the opportunity to take. These kids are very enthusiastic but have many gaps in their math and reading education. They have hopes of attending college but their current high school education has not necessarily prepared them for a college-level classes. I hope to be able to provide them with the tools and skills required to succeed in college.
