My students are wonderfully enthusiastic learners! They are predominately Hispanic and with the exception of one student, they are all living in poverty. Despite the financial challenges that their families face, my students' minds are full of questions and they want to learn as much as they can, as quickly as they can! Our charter school focuses on the development of the whole child. Students are learning how to eat healthy foods through our organic meals and garden, how to exercise regularly through our wellness classes, how to ask questions about anything and everything, and find answers through science, math, reading, writing, and social studies. They are very enthusiastic about learning and they love to move! My students live in areas where it is not so safe to play outside after school, so they come to school with lots of energy! Not only will exercise balls allow them to get out some energy, but students can build healthy core muscles.
