I teach kindergarten at a small, rural school in Northern California. When students come into my classroom for their first school experience, they have many different abilities. Some have been to preschool and come with that knowledge, while some have no prior experiences with school. Many students who come to our school have moved a lot and have had challenging life experiences. In our school, we also have a high number of English Language Learners and struggling learners.
