I teach first grade in a K-5 school. Our elementary school is nestled in an historic, small town and two universities. Our closest neighbors are black Angus cattle which live on a lovely farm part of which was donated for our school site. Despite our obvious community resources, half of our school's students are economically challenged. One third of my own students are English language learners or live in bilingual households.
