My students are terrific! I have a wide variety of students in my class. Some students are fortunate enough to have very supportive parents that work with them at home and support their child's learning. However, a lot of times parents do not have access to materials like I have requested to hold their child's interest. Then I have the students that do not receive as much support at home, so it is up to me to create a desire and purpose to learn. By using the fluency station, magnetic letters, letter stampers, and other materials, this allows me to find the motivation that ALL students need to become successful students. Motivation will be even more challenging this year due to the F-5 tornado that struck our city. I will be teaching students that have lost their homes and possibly family members and friends. Creating a positive and fun learning environment will hopefully help to take the focus off the tragedy.
