We are a small school in Vermont with a tight budget. We have adopted the Common Core Standards and are working to align all of our programs to meet the requirements of these standards. The 24 students in my class are motivated to learn. They are caring children, who are accepting of each other. As a school, we are striving to integrate our literacy program with our science and social studies programs. We believe that this will make learning more relevant to our students and help to make better connections to real life. Our class has done some great things to help others this year, which include running a food drive for local neighbors in need, sponsoring a shoe driving in an effort to raise money to dig a well for an orphanage in Kenya, and writing to an elderly man with Alzheimer's.
