Project Spotlight: Inspired by Jose

Share:

This summer, Ms. Jackson from Los Angeles posted a project to honor her student Jose. Six months ago, Jose suffered a rare blood clot on his neck and is now a quadriplegic. In spite of this tragedy, Jose's family, classmates, and community members have remained strong and organized numerous fundraisers and volunteer opportunities to help Jose's cause. Over $80,000 has been raised for Jose by students at Ms. Jackson's school. In support of Jose, his classmates came up with an idea to sell buttons at their school, with messages such as, "Stay Strong Jose". As Ms. Jackson writes, "these buttons served to not only generate money, but also served as an easy way for students to show their unity". Ms. Jackson requested materials so her students could continue making and distributing these buttons in support of Jose.On July 20, 2012, the project was completed, with 9 donors and donations of over $722! Thank you, Jose and Ms. Jackson, for inspiring us all.
