To celebrate Earth Day 2013, the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation is partnering with DonorsChoose.org to match $25,000 in donations to “green” classroom projects. “Our goal this Earth Day is to encourage youth stewardship by supporting hands-on waste reduction and recycling efforts, as well as creative plastic-free projects in the classroom.” said Executive Director Jessica Scheeter.Donations will be matched on selected projects focused on creative "upcycling" ideas, student efforts to use reusable water bottles, and art projects to create reusable bags with a goal of reducing single-use disposable plastics. Student-driven recycling and compost efforts with a goal of reducing waste can also qualify for the match campaign. All qualifying projects may be found on the giving page for this campaign.100% of Jack Johnson’s 2008 tour profits were used to establish the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation, founded by Jack and Kim Johnson to support environmental, art and music education now and into the future. Johnson also launched the All At Once campaign, a social action network and global community that provides information, tools, and motivation to empower individuals to become active in their local and world community.
