Coupons, deals, and gift guides--all standard fare for the holiday season. But this year Epson America wanted to do something different. After the Epson Store team locked themselves in a room for the better part of an afternoon, the discussion turned to raising money for a worthy cause. The team went to work, consulting with various internal groups to determine what could be done. Legal (check), finance (check), business execs (check). Everyone was excited to use Epson’s brand for good. Next step: choose a cause and find a charity partner. Jered Goodyear, Epson’s Manager of Online Marketing, reached into his personal files to help unearth potential candidates. As a labor of love, Jered had amassed a wealth of information on non-profits of all shapes, sizes, and causes.DonorsChoose.org became Epson’s early frontrunner for two reasons. Not only was the team impressed by the independent accolades that our organization had received, but our mission aligned with Epson’s deep ties to education--Epson’s printers, scanners, projectors and document cameras have supported classroom activities for years. DonorChoose.org clinched the top spot when the team learned about our Double Your Impact Program, which allowed Epson to match pledges and help donors fund their favorite projects quicker. Therefore, we’re pleased to announce that Epson America has chosen to partner with DonorChoose.org by donating two percent (2%) of every online store purchase between December 1, 2012 and December 24, 2012, up to a $100,000 donation. It’s simple to participate:Just purchase anything from the Epson Store (ink, paper, printers, scanners, etc.) during the qualifying period and two percent of that total up to $100,000 will be donated to fund projects that bring technology into public school classrooms. To learn more about the project and view Epson’s holiday deals, please visit http://epson.com/100kholiday
