I've created a student centered classroom for my second grade students at Midland Trail Elementary. My students are motivated when they have some control over their environment. Flexible seating allows them to choose where they work and change their location and position as needed. They are given choice menus to use when practicing new skills at center time. I want my students to have a growth mindset. They are taught that mistakes are okay, because mistakes make their brains grow.
