My school community includes a large population of Hispanic and Chaldean immigrant families. With over 79% of my students being economically disadvantaged and 17% with limited English proficiency, they enter my middle school science classroom facing many obstacles. But these challenges become opportunities for developing grit and growing a passion for learning as I strive to engage them in science that addresses real world phenomena with 21st-century solutions. They just need some 21st-century science tools to help them reach their potential.
