My math classroom is located in a small rural East Texas city, and our public school is the very heart of our town. We are a Title 1 school where almost half of our students are on free or reduced lunch. The students entering 4th grade are in the intermediate school, and they are usually very excited (and nervous) about the new environment and the new experiences it brings. My students are creative, energetic, and very supportive of one another. In my classroom, I encourage them to explore and search for ways to solve problems--not only in math, but in their daily life experiences. They come to me on various academic levels, and my goal for them is not only to show a progression in their learning, but for them to also feel successful and to take ownership & pride in their learning.
