I teach two subjects, ELA and Film/Multimedia. Our English Language Arts program follows the Summit School Curriculum model. We have large block schedules for Project time and Personal Learning Time all day on Wednesdays. My ELA students are 6th grade and come from many backgrounds. I'm always striving to learn new and better methodology and pedagogical strategies to use in the classroom. I use a lot of technology in the classroom and students are 1:1 with tablets. The Film and Multimedia class is part of the West Contra Costa USD's Pathways program which follows the Career Technology Education Common Core Standards. I prepare students for a career in film and/or multimedia through industry guidelines and professional input. Students are given the tools to create their own films and market themselves and their work through multimedia. Students range from 6th to 8th grade and it's a two-year program.
