Students will use drones and the DroneDeploy Software to measure the natural and human effects on the topography of the beach from the dunes to the waterline. Measurements are taken throughout the year using the exact same coordinates for accurate comparison. The DroneDeploy Software will allow students to create accurate, high-resolution maps, reports, and 3D models, as well as real-time 2D Live Maps for immediate analysis. Results with be analyzed by the students of the Marine Science Academy and shared with local researchers, and state park officials. Providing students with these types of hands-on real-world experiences will give them a competitive edge when they apply for commercial drones jobs, research positions, or as an added skill to a host of career fields.
