I teach 9th and 12th grade English literature. My students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of my students need school supplies that they either can't afford or don't have the transportation to obtain. I have my students to create an interactive notebook/journal which becomes for them a portfolio of sorts. This notebook allows the students to respond to literature, writing prompts and creative writing in a systematic and organized way. They also create art, graphic organizers and scripts which allows them to grow as writers and to recognize those areas in which they can experience improvement. I've provided notebooks in the past but now am need of your help. I've seen the degree of responsibility and pride my students take in their books. I have them to personalize it with photos or drawings and to really interact with the books. We are in need of new sets for the spring semester. Please donate.
