Our school is a fine art's magnet school. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students, who live in a high poverty urban town, to experience the arts. However, many come to us without the proper reading skills -they need to have high interest books placed into their hands. They need to experience 'getting lost in a book.' Although we are grateful for our inherited classroom library, it is time to seek out new reading materials. I have seen that when I am able to bring the newest and latest books into our classroom that the children are literally begging for more time to read them. They ask to come in during recess for reading time!

About my class
