I want to inspire my students to be free-thinking individuals, but first I must give them the opportunities to weigh different views and choose wisely. I teach at a charter high school with a strong emphasis on ACT skills and scores. I am currently teaching Freshmen English and Juniors Writing. While our curriculum is a lot of skill and drill, I feel that we must teach our students to think. Being prepared to successfully take the college tests is very different from being prepared to successfully attend college.
