A facility dog enhances a child's mental and physical health, self-esteem, and improves literacy. On 7-3-15, Kitley Elementary lost their beloved Bixby to Hemangiosarcoma. During his brief seven years of service, he has literally touched the lives of thousands of students. Some of these children have cancer themselves & needed a brief reprieve of peace & solitude during the school day that only a dog can bring. Others were children with Autism who had social & sensory anxieties. Bixby helped them learn how to participate in the classroom & return affection through contact. I am in need of your help in order to continue what Bixby has started; touching the lives of children in the elementary school setting. We have an opportunity to do that through Robin, a one year old black lab. I am seeking help with funding so Robin can be professionally trained & registered to be facility dog status for the children at Kitley.
