Our school is located in North Austin, Texas. Ninety-eight percent of the school is below the poverty level. We are predominantly Hispanic/Latino. My students are part of the Bilingual Life Skills Unit, and they are eight amazing students. Something that distinguishes the gratitude that you feel as a teacher, between Special Education and General Education, is that students have to possess more persistence. They not only have to reach certain goals, but they have to reach these goals, with certain limitations. When a student reaches a certain goal or benchmark, it is the greatest feeling in the world for them and me.
