I am an English teacher in a high-poverty high school located in rural North Carolina. My students are in the twelfth grade and are taking the AP English Literature exam in order to graduate from high school and become prepared for college. If these students earn a strong score, generally a 3 or 4, the college of their choice will likely give them college credit and exempt the student from an introductory English class.
