Girls Prep was founded in 2005 as the first and only all-girls public charter school in New York City. Girls Prep Lower East Side and its sister school, Girls Prep Bronx have grown to serve more than 1,600 primarily minority students in grades PreK-8. Girls Prep schools are part of the Public Prep Network, a nonprofit organization that develops high-quality Universal Pre-Kindergarten and single-sex elementary and middle public schools that pursue excellence through continuous learning and evidence-based instruction. Our model is designed to empower each student to build strong character, demonstrate critical thinking, possess a core body of knowledge and be on a predictive path to earn a degree from a four-year university. We are proud to graduate 100% of 8th grade scholars into premier private, parochial and public high schools, and the 2016-17 school year is an exciting milestone, as it marks when our inaugural 8
