I am a reading teacher working with amazing students in a Title I school. Some of my kindergarten students enter school without knowing how to recognize their name in print or know how to hold a pencil/crayon. They have not been exposed to language and/or language play like some of their peers. Providing these students with these materials will allow them to be able to engage in the extra practice and reinforcement they so desperately need.
