Our school serves nearly 1600 students; approximately 300 of those are involved in the instrumental music program. Many of these students begin playing instruments in their 6th grade year, having little to no musical experience and continue on well into their high school years. It has been my experience that music has given many of them a reason to do well in school. The skills and discipline they receive from being involved in music prepares them to be 21st century learners and people.
