My students are primarily ESL and either immigrants or first generation Americans. Our high school is located in Southern California and constitute approximately 90% Hispanics. They come to me at a deficit in studies of United States History. Most are committed to remaining in this country, obtaining a higher education, creating a career and raising a family, and participating in their communities politically and socially. In order to to be intelligent and effective citizens, they must be brought up to date historically and currently! My students are eager and hungry to really understand their world, this nation, and their ability to make a difference.... Knowledge IS power!
