Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an amazing group of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students that attend YWLA. We are one of eight all girl public schools in the state of Texas. As apart of the YWP network we have standards for our students and expect 100% of our students to attend college. With the students needing financial assistance our teachers, administrators and college bound adviser assists these girls receive scholarships so they have the opportunity to attend college without worrying about finances. This year we have added a part time dance position and part time art position. With both positions being new supplies are limited and the budget has gone to the full time art teacher.
We are in need of supplies to be used on a daily basis.

My Project
YWLA is a place where young women can go to receive support from their teachers and administrators to begin the right path to attend college. The schools goal is to have 100 percent of the seniors to go to college and receive scholarships and financial support to be able to go to college and potentially be the first in their family to attend.
In art class, we learn through a variety of traditional and non traditional art methods.
We have started creating value in our name and art work by creating our artists signatures and will transition into cave painting, drawing, clay then and then into painting.
I am excited to participate in our Empty Bowl project we use as a community service project and their first opportunity to sell their work.
