Technology, technology, technology! Teachers & students are exposed daily. With money restraints & changes in operating systems, hurdles occur. With this grant, I know I could learn more about Windows 8. Oh please, let me be the student through this great opportunity! I'd definitely love the chance!
I am currently a 5th grade team teacher at a Pre K-5th grade school.
I have 42 students combined in two sections. Our school has almost 550 students at this time. My school is always looking at ways to gain new technology and focuses on the importance of technology integration in classrooms.
Our goal is to continue learning more about technology integration and the Windows 8 system. With that said, the next step for me would be learning about Windows 8 and project based learning, but before I cross that bridge, I need to learn more about this powerful resource. As I become the student in this unique journey, I know I will in turn bring more effective project based lessons into my classroom and to my students with a Window 8 laptop. For now though, I need to work on my proposed lesson plan and become a student. In a nutshell, I know that in learning more about Windows 8 formatting as a student, I can help lead students toward a better tomorrow.
My Project
In speaking with my technology leader, she recommended professional development articles & tutorials that would guide my learning path. My personal plan of action in terms of Professional Development includes meeting with my technology leader individually or with small groups. The lesson plan for my personalized learning path includes meeting for 3 sessions to help me understand the power of Window 8 and project based lessons.
With the use of the requested Windows 8 laptop in this grant, my tech teacher will guide me on a path to help not only me, but later my students. Our plan has me with striving for 2 steps. Goal 1 includes learning the hardware and the navigation of Windows 8. After learning the physical components of this tool, the 2nd goals would offer effective project-based learning activities for my students using this Windows 8 machine later.
Technology is a MUST in the classrooms today.
The sad truth though, often lies money restraints & ever changing operating systems. The ongoing cycle of learning is critical for successful educators today. I am more than willing to learn about Windows 8 with the guidance of my school's technology leader. I know as a student, I can move forward to eventually help my Kindergarten students. But first, I will become the one who needs to learn. Oh please, let me be the student again with this grant!
