We know that productive technology tools in a classroom can enhance learning experiences. Ipads are proven effective devices. I know having an Osmo & keyboard with my iPad would benefit all of us in the long run. With that said, I must first learn more about this new tool and be a student again.
I teach Kindergarten at a wonderful Pre K-5th feeder school with over 500 students.
The parental support is very important to our families in the community. Our school is blessed to have wonderful teachers, leaders and of course, the best students! We are a school that believes in technology integration and we work hard every year to gain more technology resources for our students in the classroom!
I am interested in using Osmos and Ipad keyboard with our new Ipads gained this year through Donorschoose.org. I would love to utilize this new resource with my students next year. However, I need to learn first how to use it. My initial step would be learning how the Osmo works. In a nutshell, I know that in learning more about Osmo interactive resources and keyboard as a student, I can strengthen my teaching. I have an Ipad mini already.
My Project
Osmos are new on the horizon and I want to learn about Osmos for creative and collaborative lessons. In terms of Professional Development my plan is to work with our tech leader in a small group setting. The lesson plan for my personal learning journey includes meeting for 3 sessions to understand this new tool. In speaking with our tech leader, she recommended professional development tutorials that would guide me. With the use of the requested Osmo and ipad keyboard in this grant, my mentor will guide me with my learning path. Our plan of action for this lies with striving for two goals: Learning to use Osmo and keyboard as a student and then implementing it for creative and collaborative lessons with my students. The Osmo and keyboard in this proposal would be used for me to learn about them during professional development. In the future, they would be used in centers with collaborative group settings, in pairs or individually.
At this time, we have a unique instance which would help me as an educator to learn more about the use of osmo and keyboard.
However, I need to first step back and become the student in this scenario. My plan is to become involved as a student again. With the help of the technology leader at my school guiding me, combined with your funding, I will strive to become a better educator by becoming a student again. Will you consider helping this determined educator on her personal Osmo quest?
