Empowering Students Through Art! Your donation will go towards a wonderful cause to improve the music education program within an urban school district. We will not only be using these instruments to play prearranged songs, we will also compose musical scores for children's books and nursery rhymes.
My students are extremely energetic and grateful to have music class.
We do not have a lot of instruments to play, but the ones we do have, the students use very respectfully and musically. we have had the opportunity to borrow a few xylophones over the past few months and the students have loved playing them. Unfortunately, we have to return them in January. They would be very excited to have xylophones as a part of our music curriculum. I have never been a part of a school community that is so engaged in learning and it carries over from the music room to the art room and all other subjects.
My Project
Xylophones are always a wonderful way to teach children how to be musical. When we get the xylophones, I will be able to teach the children about pitch (high and low), scales (ascending and descending), playing songs as a group, and how to build Orff arrangements and dance to them! Since I am ordering many different sizes of xylophones including, bass (with a rolling cart for ease of mobility), alto, and soprano, alto and soprano metallophones, and two soprano glockenspiels, the children will also be able to learn about the different timbres and ranges of each instrument and what they sound like together as an ensemble. I will also use the 3 extra pairs of xylophone mallets to double kids up on each instrument, so more students can play at the same time on one instrument.
There are many schools within our school system that don't have the opportunity to have music class.
In addition to enriching the lives of these children, your donation will also help fortify the music department and the future children of this classroom. It will also reinforce the importance and power of teaching music to children at a young age.
