Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The Western Warrior Football team is made up of 11 respectful and hardworking, young gentleman and ladies. They have taken the challenge to be the first 8th Man Football Team in the history of Western. They showed that they are true Warriors by playing iron man football and never showing any fear.
Our Western Warrior Football team is made up of bright young gentleman and ladies, who have taken the challenge to not only be students but a student athletes.
Our student athletes face many challenges in our community of Maryvale. Many of our athletes have to balance school, sports, and a part time job to be able to provide some support for their family.
This has been the first year of High School football and we have seen the impact football has in our students and community. High School Football is what has kept our students motivated to attend school and see a brighter future.
My Project
The goal for our football program is to instill lifelong lessons that our student athletes can use as they become young adults. Our program will teach the skills needed to play the game of football but will also teach the skills of hard work, teamwork, responsibility, and respect; all skills needed to be successful in life. In order to do this we need down box numbers to have home games and showcase our talents to the Maryvale community. In order to continue to be competitive we are in need of playbook wristbands, footballs, and a kicking tee.
A Successful Football Program in schools is not really about football.
It is about using football as a bridge to a better life. It is a way to prepare young men and women for the challenges they will face or are facing. It is a way to release the stress of what goes on at home, but most importantly it is a way to keep our students safe. Having the down markers, wristbands, kicking tee, and football will help us to showcase our talents when playing home or away.
