This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are wonderful, expressive, creative individuals that come from a variety of home environments.
The students in my classroom are mostly second language learners coming to school with very little English language exposure. Our school population is mostly Latino, ESL, low-income students that are thrilled to have the chance to learn. The students are active participants in a positive school environment that encourages all students to succeed and are held to a high level of standards.
My Project
This awesome piece of furniture will create the space needed for a writing station during our Daily 5 structure. My students will be able to use this designated Writing Station to focus on their own personal writing and exploring with words and illustrations. I love the idea of this piece of furniture looking different than the rest of the tables in the classroom making it a special place to practice writing. The students will love the different shelves to hold different sized paper, writing tools, letter stamps/ink and word cards. Having this piece of furniture in the classroom will help ALL students to see themselves as a writer!
Giving students the space to focus on their writing will help them produce quality work.
The writing station will be a highly sought after center, as it will have a place and space of its own. Students will engage in all types of writing: letter writing, postcard writing, grocery list writing, poetry, short books, journal writing, etc.
