We are constantly moving! In my classroom I encourage active learning! We also use our new tablets frequently throughout the day. We use them to practice math, reading, and to do research. Our problem is the tangle of cords and inability to keep them charged, so they keep up with us!
My students are from an area that is stricken with poverty.
They are hard workers and are eager to learn. I feel like they thrive on the discovery of new information! Our school is amazing! It if filled with a faculty and staff that love our children and show it everyday and with every interaction. We are diligent in trying to ensure that they have the same opportunities as students in wealthier areas.
My Project
As with most children in the year 2015, my students are infatuated with technology! It is not just because of their age and generation, but because it is so limited or even nonexistent in their homes. My tablets are used by every student in my classroom multiple time throughout the day. We use them during differentiated learning stations, morning work, whole group reading, and math times! They are an important part of our day. Our issues are that it is very hard for us to keep them charged and ready for use, because we do not have a good safe place to keep them. We also are constantly untangling cords which wastes a large amount of time. We would like to solve these problems with this docking station.
If funded, my project will make the following impacts on my classroom.
We waste a large amount of time during the school day simply untangling cords. This station would eliminate that all together. It will also give us a safe place to keep them. Numerous times throughout this year I have organized QR review scavenger hunts, etc. The tablets have a hard time keeping up because we can only charge a few at a time. With this station, we could charge them all at once!
