My Students

My students, with limited access to educational experiences at home, are wildly curious about people and places that are different from where we currently live. “Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence.” ~Abigail Adams

My students come from a very rural, poverty-stricken area with limited opportunities to experience diverse peoples and cultures.

Many of my students have never been to a movie theater or eaten in a restaurant nicer than McDonald's. They desperately need chances to "see" the world!

My Project

My students could use two laptops as gateways, or windows, to the outside world. Using the laptops for research would be the largest help, and having access to online documentaries and resources that would help them virtually travel the world. Think about never traveling farther than two miles from where you live- that is the life of my students. I can't buy them all plane tickets but computers could help them see the world.

My students will become acquainted with diverse people and cultures.

They will be able to see these Ancient Civilizations and cultures, and this will make them better citizens and global learners.
