Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help our inner-city school start a band program! We need wind instruments to supplement our program. Help our students break the mold and discover their own potential through music!
My students are from a low income, inner-city elementary school.
Our school is very small and under funded, but students are very capable.
At our school, music is a source of artistic enrichment integrated into core subjects including math, science, literacy and social studies.
My Project
With flutes, clarinets, trumpets and trombones our students will finally have the resources to start our school's first ever band program since it's founding almost 100 years ago. These instruments are economical in price but built with quality materials. Based on reviews and the advice of colleagues, I've come to the conclusion that they are suitable for any band or orchestra program.
Studies show that students who take instrumental music lessons are likely to perform better on standardized tests.
Music also inspires confidence, pride and a healthy emotional outlet for children.
Let beautiful music echo in these old halls and inspire creativity and confidence to students whom, otherwise, would never have such an opportunity.
