Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Who was Albert Einstein? Who was Clara Barton? Who was Cesar Chavez? Unfortunately, my students are unable to answer these questions. I would like for them to be able to read these leveled biographies and learn the impact of these important Americans.

My third grade students are transitioning from a Spanish to English class.

My students are great readers and enjoy reading different kinds of genres. I am requesting different leveled biography series of famous Americans. These leveled readers reflect the range of ability in my class ranging from beginning readers to advanced readers. These books would allow my students to independently read a chapter book for their writing project.

My Project

I plan to use these books for our Spring writing project. Students will be allowed to choose their own book. By giving them the choice to choose their book, I am hoping my students will enjoy this project and learn from their exploration of their famous American. As we read the books in class, students will be given journal prompts to summarize the readings and to focus their comprehension. The project would culminate in an oral project where the students would be allowed to bring in visuals or dress up as the person they read about.

Although our Reading series incorporates a variety of genres in their student textbook, I would love for my students to read and learn about the impact of some famous Americans.

Thank you for taking the time to read my proposal and to fund "Who's Who in 3rd Grade?"
