My Students

Do you remember using a dictionary to help open doors in your reading and writing? Well some of my students struggled this year using dictionaries that were written at a higher level. I would like for them to have access to material that is easy for them to use.

My class is currently made up of 18 curious children who love to read and write.

My school is a Science and Technology school serving children in grades K-5. We currently have approximately 700 students enrolled in our school. We fare located in the state of South Carolina.

My Project

These resources will allow my students to become more independent learners. Once I teach them how to use a dictionary to find meanings, synonyms, and antonyms they will be able o refer to these resources to support independent reading and writing. They will be able to use these skills for a lifetime.

It is important for second grade students to be given resources that are written on their level so they will be successful while using them.

I currently do not have access to dictionaries that are appropriate for all of my students. Many of the dictionaries that are available at my school are for students in grades 3 and up. A class set of the books will allow me to teach whole group lessons. Please help me make learning a success for all of my students.
