With interactive technology resources in classrooms now, teachers can use them incorporate those seamlessly into powerful lessons. I believe that with an ActivSlate, student camera and accessories and a PowerPoint clicker pen, it would enrich technology experiences for my students!
I am currently a 5th grade team teacher at a Pre K- fifth grade school.
Our school has worked to move forward with technology in the past five years. Each year we offer technology campaigns to help ourselves and our students. We have a close community and the parental support here is wonderful. Our school has more than 500 students from Pre K through fifth grade. I believe technology integration is a plus to move forward with academics. I feel we are fortunate that our students have truly embraced technology resources to enhance the curriculum we have set in motion.
My Project
First of all, you may want the answer to the question, what is an ActivSlate? It is basically a wireless tablet that offers the same interactive function as a Promethean Board, but has the advantage of freedom of movement. We could use it interactively in groups or in centers. I also have handicapped children who have trouble moving toward the board. Having an ActivSlate would allow me to bring it to them for participation purposes. In the past years, our school has been fortunate enough to receive Promethean Boards with the help of grants and community helpers. Unfortunately, we never had additional funding for accessories, such as ActivSlates. Personally, I would love for us to receive an ACTIVSLATE, camera, accessories and a clicker to supplement lessons with our curriculum.
