What an Invasion of Privacy!

My students need privacy shields for proper testing environments, headphones, teaching cards, and classroom clotheslines. My room is very small and my students have to sit on the floor in order to have discretion during tests.

My Students

Help eliminate some of the desire to avert one's eyes! Our classroom is small and we have limited choices in terms of finding an isolated area during tests. My students sit on the floor to gain privacy for their assessments. Privacy shields would give my students back their desks during tests!

My students live in a small, quiet town primarily dependent on agriculture.

The poverty level is high and majority of the students battle financial hardship, have a single parent or no parents, and other trying factors at home. A few years ago, the town faced a dangerous hurricane which devastated the community. Their school is old and needs work, but the staff aims to equip students with the skills needed to become lifelong learners.

My Project

My students need privacy shields for a proper testing environment. My room is very small and my students have to sit on the floor in order to have discretion during tests. We would use the privacy shields during test time, or whenever my students need a quiet area to work, without distractions. I also asked for two headsets for my listening center. Two of my headsets broke and my students are forced to share with one another. Two students sharing one headset? It's certainly interesting, but they are troopers and they make do. I included a classroom clothesline for my class, because as mentioned before, I have a small classroom with limited wall space. I would like to hang student work from the clothesline. Lastly, I asked for vocabulary cards that will provide my students with visual examples of similes and metaphors. These skills are on our standardized test that we take in April and would help them as they review for the test.

As an educator, I strive to provide my students with materials and learning environments that heighten understanding and excitement.

I am passionate about teaching and believe that these two materials will assist our classroom for the upcoming school year. Not only would these materials help me better serve my students, it would be a delightful treat for my deserving class.
