My Students

Learning our letters is so much fun...let's make it fun for everyone! My classroom is filled with energetic and inquisitive four and five year-old students of a wide range of abilities. We need appropriate literacy center materials for all students to be able to use independently at their levels.

My classroom is a very busy place each day!

The majority of my students are four and five year-old boys which leads to a day filled with very active, hands-on play and learning. We have center time each day and we try to incorporate as many literacy activities into each center as possible, however, finding materials that are hands-on and able to be used independently has become a problem. All of my students love to play with play dough and play games with each other. My students thrive on interactions with their peers and the ability to learn and act independently and creatively.

My Project

Bringing these literacy materials into our classroom will allow my students to learn independently through play during center time. With little direction, the students will be exposed to literacy rich materials while engaging their minds. My students will be able to work with hands-on with literacy materials to help them learn the letters of the alphabet, the sounds that the letters make and to increase their knowledge of literacy concepts to help them move on to kindergarten in the fall. The literacy materials that I am asking for may also be able to be sent home with students for extra reinforcement. What would be more fun than taking home a set of letter and sound dough stampers and a container of dough to "play" with at home for the weekend?!

Your donations will be helping the students in my class to increase their knowledge of the alphabet and early literacy concepts through active, hands-on literacy rich learning experiences.

These materials are able to be differentiated to help all of my students as they make progress in their literacy learning. Thank you for helping my students love literacy learning!
