My students need six HP laptops to use for our daily school broadcast and our GATE group projects. These laptops will allow students to work in small collaborative groups.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We have the fun and unique opportunity to have a student run, daily live broadcast. There are two teams that alternate weeks, to bring the daily happenings to the 850+ students at our school. We have a reporter crew that interviews teacher, students and parents.
Our very tech savvy students get fired up when we have new opportunity to learn with and use new technology.
We are a very unique elementary school, one of the newest in our city. We have both a technology teacher, that's me, and a science teacher because we recognize the importance of teaching students STEAM.
My Project
These 5 HP laptops will be used in a variety of ways. Our broadcast teams will use them to create and edit items for use. The enrichment groups in grades 1-2 and the GATE students in 3-5, will use these materials for collaborative tech based projects and the GATE teacher and I will use them to instruct our groups of students.
Even as blessed as we are, there is never enough tech to go around, especially with testing being moved over to computer based.
These materials will allow us the flexibility to teach tech based lessons, even when state required testing is taking place.
