Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Never pick a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel." - Mark Twain
My students are from a high poverty area.
Many of the students are new to the United States and are the more hard-working and dedicated individuals I have met. With more ambition than I had at their age, they commute through the city and, some, even spend over 2.5 hours getting to and from school each day.
My Project
The students will use these materials by being able to print their writing for English class (and others) in my room. I surveyed the students this week and asked how many had a working printer (with ink) at home. Twenty percent of students did. When eighty percent of my classes needs cannot be met at home, it is my duty to find an alternate method for them.
This project will allow students' lives to be easier, if only for a moment.
My students daily stresses can often be more than most adults can handle. These students should not have to worry about simple assignments. The ink this project provides will allow the students access to the technology and resources they deserve.
