My Students

Do you remember in elementary school reading books all the time? Books were so great you just couldn't put them down! Every book meant a new adventure your imagination let you escape to. What would happen if you never had that chance?

I have a group of amazing kids.

My kids this year have such diverse backgrounds and needs. The one common ground is their love for books. They love to have books read to them. Their love for books and passion for figuring out what the author is thinking is something any teacher is grateful to have. I have never seen a group so captivated by books. It is truly amazing to see kids more interested in books then television.

My Project

Some books are a struggle to read and I want students to be able to read along and be exposed to all different types of texts. Having the books on tape will help them hear what reading should sound like, with their fluency, word recognition, and have a better understanding of what reading truly is. Not reading to a child can really impair their development in reading, with your help this won't happen. With your help kids can go home and be read to every night.

Often times we don't realize the importance of sitting down and reading to our children.

With your help we can make sure that children are read to every night. As a child, most of us had a favorite book. That book was read to us over and over until the pages were worn out. I can only hope that with your donations my kids will enjoy being read to every night just as we all did.
